Re: English
I'd say it's a pretty good idea, Bar'bra !
What would you like to talk about ?
My english is not great but it should be enough for a start.
Writing and reading is much easier than speaking, you know, dear. Do you have any possibility to speak english ?
Sleep tight !

The Ministry of Silly Walk !!!!
ahahaha TERRIFIC I love this video so much, Monty Pythons are the best.
And for anyone who might be interested in doing quality translations: rush to see www.wordreference.com
It looks a bit old fashioned, the design is awful, but this is the best translation website you can find according to me and according to all my university teachers. About a decade ago, I used to study foreign laguages and Wordreference was my bible.
Wordreference's forums are perfect to find the most accurate translation, even for very specific topics.
I wish you all a nice day guys <3

Hi!
It's a really good idea Barbara!
Nostromo, The Monty Python is a good way to learn and practice english
I've learned a lot watching the original version of "Life of Brian"
It can be usefull for (to?) us to "always look on the bright side of life"
An other website that I oftenly use is bab.la https://fr.bab.la/

Re: English
hello everiiiibodiii
The british accent isn't easy to learning english.
The best situation to learn a few word english, is when i meet guys who are not english,
The speak more clearly and are not speed, and the vocabulary is not so rich.
I remember a crazy situation, in thailand.
I ask to the guys
may i have chang beer which glasses, please ?
the guy say what?
my friend ( with was a "grosse buse" with this language) say
2 beers, and the Thai understood, immediately
this silly walk is terrible. The guy's is incredible. His walk is artistic ....longs legs, very beautiful steps.
I'm happy to see, that's a visual comedy. 'cause when they're talking, it's no possible.Hi there

Re: English
Your father is totally right, dear Bar'bra, listening helps 'making the ear'. I often watch movies and series in english, it helps a lot.
I already wrote on the forum that I went to England several times when I was young and to UCLA later.
Unfortunately, I don't have many occasions to practice any more. A few years ago, I used to attend European unions commissions. I noticed that even if I understood everything quite well right away and didn't need any simultaneous translation, I needed at least half a day to speak fluently again.
You should watch series in english with good subtitles, you will improve fast !

Re: English
Hi every one !
I'm the king of English now ! Once you've understood the Irish accent, you can understood any one talking in english !
The problem is, I don't always understood what they were saying...!
For example, in Dublin, I had a pie called "Mince pie", I didn't know what was that but I sayed : "Year, mince is fine !..." I thought it must some kind of fruit or berry and I found out later that it was some sort of christmas pie, very good indeed !
I like to speak english but mine isn't very good...Still, people seems to understand me and I understand what they're saying (sometimes...).
The worst was in Belfast, I couldn't understand anything the cab driver was saying to me, he had such a strong accent !
See you later !

Re: English
Ever talked with scotish people ? Their accent is quite difficult to understand too ! We were in Portugal at my elder brother with my wife. We met a scotish group. Very nice people, awful accent ! It took quite a long long time to get used to it !
See you !

Haha, they must think the same thing about our accent !
A conversation between a guy from Belfast and a guy from Scotland must be quite interresting and difficult to understand...!

Re: English
Hi hi ! I guess so !
But not for them ! They've always had very close relationships between scots and irish in the past history - against the vile english kingdom, of course !
And even the french kingdom has been quite useful to scotish.
